About Us

Our Commitment to Consumers

Trufina promotes accuracy, fairness, and privacy of information in the verified identity information of every one of our members.  Unlike consumer reporting agencies, Trufina does not exist to gather and sell information about you to creditors, employers, landlords, e-commerce businesses, and other possible buyers.  Rather, Trufina exists to put you in control when it comes to your personal information.

To do so, we have investigated the best practices currently known to the Consumer Reporting industry, adopted them, and even expanded on them in some cases. Below is our set of self-imposed business practices:

You have a right to see what is in your file. One of Trufina's primary purposes is to give you access to the information about you in the public record.

You can dispute inaccurate information with Trufina and with the source of the information.  It is important to understand that Trufina is obligated to report whatever is in the public record.  If the public record is inaccurate, you will have to correct it at the source.  We will inform you which agency is reporting the information that you found inaccurate so that you can work with them to update your record.  If the resolution of your dispute results in a change to your record, Trufina will re-verify your information at no charge to you and update your Trufina Verified ID.

Inaccurate information will be corrected or deleted.  Trufina will remove or correct inaccurate information from its files.  However, as a matter of policy, we will do so only after we've received verification of the resolution of the dispute and re-verified the information in the public record.

Credit History Information is not relevant.  While we do utilize information from the three major credit bureaus (Experian, Transunion, and Equifax), we purposefully do not access your whole record.  Instead we access only what's called the "credit header" which speaks to your identity, not to your credit worthiness.  Trufina does not use credit information for anything other than to verify your identity.  We do not know whether you pay your bills on time or your credit history.  It's none of our business.

Criminal Records do not expire.  Therefore, if a criminal record is associated with your verified identity, and it is found to be accurate, Trufina will report that information in perpetuity.  We will always be careful to report only convictions and to note the date of the conviction; however, we cannot delete or hide a criminal infraction because it occurred a long time ago.

Access to your file is limited, secure, and private.  Trufina will provide information about you only to people, businesses, or Web sites to which you have granted permission.

Medical Information is not collected.  To date, Trufina has no plans to acquire medical information of any kind.  Should we do so in the in future, we will not report medical information about you to creditors, insurers, or employers without your express permission.

Trufina does not sell your information, so you will never receive unsolicited credit or insurance offers as a result of signing up with Trufina.
