Identity Verification | Trufina

Help & FAQs

What is Identity Verification?

Most simply stated, identity verification ensures that you are who you claim to be.  More specifically, identity verification is a multi-step process that verifies your name, age, address, and numerous other personal attributes.  Trufina uses a proprietary data-testing algorithm that confirms and correlates data contained in public record databases to ensure that every Trufina member passes the most rigorous set of qualifications possible before verification is approved.  Trufina's proprietary identity verification service is one of the toughest and most accurate available on the Internet.

How long does it take to sign up for Trufina?

Signing up takes about 5-10 minutes.  First we will ask you to provide information about yourself, including your name, address, date and country of birth, phone number, and last four digits of your Social Security Number.  Then we will correlate this data with public records databases and credit records and use those records to generate a quiz about you that only you should be able to pass.

How long does it last?  When does it expire?

Your Trufina membership does not expire, but identification information may change over time.  For example, when you move or change employers your identification information will change.  The verification date will be shown on your Trufina profile.  Depending on the situation, someone who requests your verified identification information may require it to be recently updated. You may renew your information at any time.

Why do I take a quiz as part of my Identity Verification?

The quiz is how we verify you are who you say you are.  Some of the personal information you provide is likely to be known by many people other than yourself (telephone number or address, for example).  The quiz allows us to test your knowledge of information that only you are likely to know (prior addresses and older financial accounts).  By demonstrating your knowledge of personal information, you are proving your identity to Trufina.

If I don't answer the quiz correctly can I still be verified by Trufina?

Yes. There are alternative methods to complete your verification. Please feel free to contact our Member Support team to discuss other ways to verify your identification information.

Why does the sign-up process require my Social Security Number?

We understand that your Social Security Number is a very sensitive piece of information, as is your online identity. We need to verify that you know at least part of your SSN in order to accurately identify you, which is why we ask for the last four digits of your Social Security Number (SSN) during the sign up process.
